Dr. Kurt J. Lauk - President, Globe Capital Partners
Dr. Kurt J. Lauk is president of Globe Capital Partners. He is the National Chairman of the Economic Council of the Christian Democratic Party in Germany. He serves as a Chairman or Board Member on several supervisory boards.
Dr. Lauk was a Member of the Board of Management of Daimler-Chrysler from 1996 to 1999. Later, he was a member of the Chairman Integration Council and served as head of the commercial vehicle division at Daimler-Benz AG and Mercedes-Benz AG. Prior to that, he was a Member of the Board of management of VEBA, AG (today EON) and from 1992 to 1996, Dr. Lauk served as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Controller of EON.
From 1982 to 1992, Dr. Lauk was Deputy Chairman and Chief Financial Officer of Audi AG, with additional full responsibility in marketing. Before that, he was President of Zinser Textilmaschinen GmbH, a pioneer developer and leading supplier of machines for textile mills. From 1978 to 1984, Dr. Lauk served as Vice President and Director of The Boston Consulting Group Inc., in Munich and Boston, respectively.
Dr. Lauk is President of the German-French Institute in Ludwigsburg, Germany and is a non-Executive Director of the International Institute of Strategic Studies based in London. Dr. Lauk had taught business strategy and finance at the European Business School in Reichartshausen/Eltville, and had also lectured in Global Management at the Stanford University Business graduate school. From 1992 to 2002, he served on the Stanford Business School Dean's Advisory Council.
Dr. Lauk earned his Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Kiel in Germany. He holds an MA in History and Theology from the University of Munich, Germany and received his MBA from the Stanford University, California in 1977.
Dr. William C.Y. Lee - President, LinkAir Communications, Inc.
Dr. William C.Y. Lee serves as chairman of LinkAir Communications, Inc., the developer of LAS-CDMA-a new patented technology for wireless telecommunication systems that significantly increases network capacity and improves quality of service and network coverage.
Dr. Lee is well recognized for his leading contributions in making analog and CDMA technologies commercially viable, he holds 27 US patents and has more than 10 pending.
Dr. Lee was among the pioneers in developing advanced wireless technology-AMPS-for Bell Lab. He then joined the ITT Defense Communications Division, where he headed the advanced mobile communications. He was Vice President and Chief Scientist during the subsequent tenure with Vodafone Airtouch, where he assisted in the CDMA research and the initial deployment. Dr. Lee also led PacTel's PCS experimental trial, and under his leadership the first CDMA phone call was completed in 1995.
Dr. Lee has been selected as an IEEE Fellow and has served as a member of the California State Council on Science and Technology, the US Council on Competitiveness, and the FCC Technical Advisory Council. His achievements has earned him the IEEE VTS Avant Garde Award, the CTIA Award, the CDMA Industry Achievement Award, the SATEC Award, a Bell Lab Award, the IEEE Third Millennium Medal Award, the Telecommunication Achievement award from Chinese Historical Society of America, and the Stuart Meyer Memorial award from IEEE Vehicular Technology Society.
Dr. Lee earned his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Ohio State University.
Dr. Leonard Liu - CEO and Chairman, Augmentum
Dr. Leonard Liu has played a global role in the computing industry almost from its inception. Currently, Dr. Liu is CEO and Chairman for Augmentum, providing software development outsourcing services. Most recently, he served as President of ASE Group, previously having held roles as President of Acer Group, Chairman and CEO of Walker Interactive Systems, and COO of Cadence Design Systems.
Dr. Liu began his career in 1968 as a new PhD at IBM's Thomas J. Watson Laboratories. In his 20 years at IBM, he managed ??among other businesses ??the creation of SQL, AIX and the development of the predecessor to RS/6000.
KOH-QUEK SOO BOON - Founder and Managing partner of iGlobe Partners
Ms. KOH-QUEK SOO BOON has many years of global experience in banking, private equity and venture capital investing. At iGlobe she manages three funds: the iGlobe Partners Fund, anchored by the Singapore Economic Development Board and focused on global technology companies; the iGlobe Treasury VIF Fund, anchored by the New Zealand Governmen and, focused on helping New Zealand companies expand globally; as well as the iGlobe Platinum fund, which focused on Asian high-growth cleantech, mobile, and digital media.
Prior to iGlobe, Ms. KOH-QUEK SOO BOON served as Senior Vice President (1987-1999) in Vertex Management. Soo Boon managed three funds during her tenure with Vertex Management, the venture capital arm of Singapore Technologies. She established the US operations of Vertex and headed the Silicon Valley office for 9 years. She had also spearheaded a technology exchange and recruited over 100 engineers from Silicon Valley to Singapore for Chartered Semiconductor and Chartered Microwave. In 1996, Soo Boon launched Vertex's European operations in London. She led numerous portfolio companies to IPO, including Lattice Semiconductor, Creative Technologies, and Premisys Communications Inc., Proxim Inc. and SCM Microsystems etc.
Prior to Vertex, Soo Boon served as Vice President (1974-1986) in DBS Bank. She had held various senior management positions in the Treasury and Credit departments in her 12 years of work in the Development Bank of Singapore. Her last role there was to run the Credit Division's International operations overseeing eight overseas offices in addition to the Syndication Department for the Asia-Pacific region.
Victor C. Yu - Senior Advisor, UMC Capital
Mr. Victor Yu is a representative of UMC Capital. He currently serves as the Chairman at HeJian Technology (Suzhou) Co., Ltd., a China-based semiconductor manufacturing company, with main areas of focus on corporate governance, supervision and compliance, legal affairs, corporate communications, governmental relationship, corporate finance, treasury and accounting, investments and audit. Since 2014, he also serves as the Chairman of UnitedDS Semiconductor (Shandong) Co., Ltd., a semiconductor design service provider based in Jinan, Shandong.
Prior to HeJian Technology, Victor served as the Vice President and Head of Corporate Finance at ING Bank (Taiwan), a global financial company. In 2009 to 2011, Mr. Victor Yu was the Chairman of United LED Corporation, an LED design and manufacturing company. In addition, Victor has also held management positions related to corporate banking at other companies, including Security Pacific National Bank (Taipei) and Bank of Boston (Taipei).
Victor Yu holds an M.B.A. in International Finance from Baruch College at the City University of New York and a B.B.A. degree in International Business from the National Taiwan University.
Paul Huang - CEO, Fortemedia, Inc.
Dr Paul Huang has extensive leadership experience with large, medium, and start-up companies. As CEO of Fortemedia since 2000, Paul is responsible for overseeing all business operations, technology development, financial management, and governance of Fortemedia. Previously, he served as the CEO and Chairman of the Board of Novas Software. Prior, he was the Executive VP of Product Development at Quickturn Design Systems. He had also served as the President of PiE Design, a company he co-founded in 1990. Earlier, he was a co-founder of Cadence Design Systems, and served as Executive VP of Research and Development at Cadence.
Paul was the recipient of the Phil Kaufman Award for year 2000.
